The Exchange Server 2003 Management Pack monitors Exchange 2003 deployments and monitors Exchange Server Back-end and Exchange Server Front-End systems.

Overview
The Exchange Server 2003 Management Pack monitors the performance and availability of Exchange Server 2003 systems. It can also issue alerts for possible configuration problems Availability and performance monitoring is done using synthetic transactions. In addition, the Management Pack collects Event Log alerts and provides associated knowledge articles with additional user details, possible causes, and suggested resolutions. The Management Pack discovers and monitors the individual server components and functional areas on an Exchange Server 2003 server.

Overview
Outlook Voice Access lets UM-enabled users to access their Exchange 2010 mailbox using analog, digital, or cellular telephones. By using the menu system found in Outlook Voice Access, UM-enabled users can read e-mail, listen to voice messages, and interact with their Outlook calendar. This quick reference sheet shows the navigational tree and the options that are available to UM-enabled users when they are using Outlook Voice Access.

OWA Tray Monitor

OWA Tray Monitor é uma ferramenta grátis, desenvolvida por “The Drunken Bakery”, que notifica o utilizador que esteja a utilizar o Outlook Web Access sempre que cheguem novas mensagens.

OWA will flag new mail when you are actually working with it, however as Internet Explorer doesn't allow notifications to be executed outwith the security cordon of the browser, this feature is unfortunately lacking.

Exchange Server 2007 SP 2 UM Language Packs

Os Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 2 Unified Messaging Language Packs (x86 e x64) estão disponíveis para download.

Brief Description
This download contains pre-recorded prompts and text to speech data for languages supported by Exchange unified messaging.

Overview
Use unified messaging language packs to allow the Exchange Server 2007 system to speak additional languages to callers. This download contains pre-recorded prompts, for example "Welcome, you are connected to Microsoft Exchange" in the language specified by this download. It also enables text to speech translation such that content (e-mail, calendar, contact information, etc.) can be read to the caller in the language of the Unified Messaging language pack.

Additional Information
Make sure that you install this on each Unified Messaging server in the Dial Plan for which you want the language to be available.

System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) management pack which supports the Exchange Server 2010 Release Candidate

Overview
The Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 management pack is designed for monitoring Exchange Server 2010 events, collecting Exchange component-specific performance counters in one central location, and for raising alerts for operator intervention as necessary. You will need System Center Operations Manager 2007 to run and monitor Exchange Server 2010 with this management pack.

• Microsoft Exchange Server Jetstress 2010 Beta (64 bit) - Use Jetstress 2010 Beta to verify the performance and stability of a disk subsystem prior to putting an Exchange 2010 server into production. Jetstress helps verify disk performance by simulating Exchange disk Input/Output (I/O) load. Specifically, Jetstress simulates the Exchange database and log file loads produced by a specific number of users. You use Performance Monitor, Event Viewer, and ESEUTIL in conjunction with Jetstress to verify that your disk subsystem meets or exceeds the performance criteria you establish. After a successful completion of the Jetstress Disk Performance and Stress Tests in a non-production environment, you will have ensured that your Exchange 2010 disk subsystem is adequately sized (in terms of performance criteria you establish) for the user count and user profiles you have established. It is highly recommended that the Jetstress user read through the tool documentation before using the tool.
  This version is intended for Microsoft Exchange 2010 servers. The I/O profile is still subject to change until official release of Microsoft Exchange 2010 Server. Future versions will provide compatibility with Microsoft Exchange 2007.
• Exchange Load Generator 2010 Beta (64 bit) / (32 bit) - Use Microsoft Exchange Load Generator 2010 Beta (LoadGen) as a simulation tool to measure the impact of MAPI, OWA, ActiveSync, IMAP, POP and SMTP clients on Exchange 2010 servers. LoadGen allows you to test how a server running Exchange 2010 responds to e-mail loads. To simulate the delivery of these messaging requests, you run LoadGen tests on client computers. These tests send multiple messaging requests to the Exchange 2010 server, thereby causing a mail load. LoadGen is a useful tool for administrators who are sizing servers and validating a deployment plan. Specifically, LoadGen helps you determine if each of your servers can handle the load to which they are intended to carry. Another use for LoadGen is to help validate the overall solution.
  This version is intended for Microsoft Exchange 2010 Servers only. Future versions will provide compatibility with Microsoft Exchange 2007.
  Important! LoadGen should be used only in laboratories that have no connection to the production environment. This tool should not be used in any way in a production environment or an environment that is mission critical or contains important information of any kind anywhere in the network.
  Note: The XML configuration file schema in this release has changed from previous versions. You will need to create a new XML configuration file with the Load Generator UI. Algumas notas sobre o Exchange Server 2007 SP2

O tão aguardado Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 2 está finalmente disponível para download. São muitas as novidades, mas gostaria de destacar 2 delas:

• Suporte ao Exchange Server 2010: o SP2 é um pré-requisito à instalação do Exchange Server 2010 numa organização já existente de Exchange Server 2007.
• Suporte ao Windows Server 2008 Backup: finalmente é possível efectuar cópias de segurança (VSS) ao Exchange Server 2007, utilizando a ferramenta de backup que acompanha o Windows Server 2008.

Aqui fica uma lista com as principais novidades do Exchange Server 2007 SP2, retirada do blog You Had Me At EHLO:

• Enhanced Auditing - New Exchange auditing events and audit log repository enable Exchange administrators to more easily audit the activities occurring on their Exchange servers. It allows the right balance of granularity, performance, and easy access to audited events via a dedicated audit log repository. This simplifies the auditing process and makes review of audited events easier by segregating audited events in a dedicated location.
• Exchange Volume Snapshot Backup Functionality - A new backup plug-in has been added to the product that will enable customers to create Exchange backups when a backup is invoked through the Windows Server 2008 Backup tool. Exchange Server 2007 didn't have this capability on Windows Server 2008 and additional solutions were required to perform this task.
• Dynamic Active Directory Schema Update and Validation - The dynamic AD schema update and validation feature allows for future schema updates to be dynamic deployed as well as proactively preventing conflicts whenever a new property is added to the AD schema. Once this capability is deployed it will enable easier management of future schema updates and will prevent support issues when adding properties that don't exist in the AD schema.
• Public Folder Quota Management - SP2 enables a consistent way to manage quotas by improving the current PowerShell cmdlets to perform quota management tasks.
• Centralized Organizational Settings - SP2 introduces new PowerShell option that enable centralized management of many of the Exchange organization settings.
• Named Properties cmdlets - SP2 enables Exchange administrators to monitor their named property usage per database.
• New User Interface for Managing Diagnostic Logging- SP2 enables Exchange administrators to easily configure and manage diagnostic logging from within the Exchange Management Console.

Antes de instalar o Exchange Server 2007 SP2 aconselho vivamente a leitura das release notes.
Aqui ficam algumas notas pessoais resultantes da minha experiência de instalação:

• O Windows Installer version 4.5 é um pré-requisito para a instalação do Exchange 2007 SP2 (o Windows Server 2008 SP2 inclui o Windows Installer 4.5). Depois da instalação do Windows Installer 4.5, é necessário reiniciar o servidor.
  
• O Setup Wizard valida se o Windows Installer 4.5 está ou não instalado. Em caso negativo, o seguinte erro aparecerá: 
  
  
• Como ainda estava a utilizar o Windows 2008 SP1, decidi instalar o SP2. Depois do setup do Windows 2008 SP2 ter terminado, lancei a instalação do Exchange SP2. Foi com alguma surpresa que constatei que mais um reboot era necessário: 
  
  
• As “release notes” mencionam que o schema da AD deverá ser previamente preparado em 2 ocasiões:
      a) num in-place upgrade da versão beta do Exchange 2007 SP2
      b) na 1ª instalação do Exchange 2007 SP2 numa organização 
  No meu caso (cenário b), quando instalei o SP2 pela 1ª vez, o assistente de instalação fez todo o trabalho por mim, conforme se pode comprovar nas seguintes figuras: 
  
  
  
• Aqui fica um screenshot do meu servidor com o SP2, a versão é agora a 8.2 (Build 176.2). Atenção que eu não segui a ordem de instalação recomendada: CAS > UM > Hub > Edge > Mailbox!
