  • Windows PowerShell course book - This "Windows PowerShell" book will give you an introduction to Windows PowerShell as well as practical examples, in order to give you a quick introduction to this subject even if you have no significant previous scripting experience. The book is explicitly not aimed at professional scripters; the extensive Windows PowerShell help and the many Internet forums and additional literature are designed to give experts everything they need.
  • Windows PowerShell Help - chm file - A compilation of tips for Powershel by Paul Flaherty.
  • Windows PowerShell 1.0 Documentation Pack - Documentation of Windows PowerShell 1.0, which includes the Windows PowerShell Getting Started Guide, the Windows PowerShell Primer, the Windows PowerShell Language Quick Reference, and Windows PowerShell V1.0 Release Notes.
  • Introduction to the Exchange Management Shell: Microsoft® Exchange Server 2007 introduces a new management platform called the Exchange Management Shell, based on Microsoft Windows® PowerShell, formerly codenamed "Monad". This document outlines the key benefits that the Exchange Management Shell provides to Exchange administrators and developers, and explains how cmdlets are structured, and how data is managed.
  • Quick Reference for Exchange Management Shell: Microsoft® Exchange Server 2007 introduces a new management platform called the Exchange Management Shell, based on Microsoft Windows® PowerShell, formerly codenamed "Monad". This topic provides a list of many frequently used cmdlets, important conventions, and useful tips. The information is presented by feature area, such as recipient, transport, and database administration.

Windows Workflow Foundation!

"Microsoft recommends that you migrate applications that use Exchange Workflow and the Collaborative Data Object for Exchange Workflow (CDOWF) to use the Windows Workflow Foundation. Windows Workflow Foundation supplies the programming model, engine, and tools required to quickly build workflow-enabled applications on Microsoft Windows. It consists of a namespace, an in-process workflow engine, and designers for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. Applications that use Windows Workflow Foundation can be developed and run on Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows XP, and the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 family. Windows Workflow Foundation includes support for both system workflow and human workflow across a variety of scenarios, including workflow within line-of-business applications, user interface page flow, document-centric workflow, human workflow, composite workflow for service-oriented applications, business rule–driven workflow, and workflow for systems management. If you have developed applications that are based on the Exchange SDK Workflow Application Template and you require a copy of the installation package for archival purposes, please contact Microsoft Customer Support Services. The Exchange SDK Workflow Application Templates will be supported while Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 support is available."

Update Rollup 2 for Exchange Server 2007 (KB935490)

Windows PowerShell Quick Reference

"For years, support for scripting and command-line administration on the Windows platform has paled in comparison to the support offered by the Unix platform. Unix administrators enjoyed the immense power and productivity of their command shells, while Windows administrators watched in envy. Windows PowerShell, Microsoft's next-generation command shell and scripting language, changes this landscape completely. This Short Cut contains the essential reference material to help you get your work done-including the scripting language syntax, a regular-expression reference, useful .NET classes, and much more."

System Center Capacity Planner 2007 Beta 1

Developing a reliable, scalable architecture for enterprise applications like Microsoft Exchange 2007 and Microsoft Operations Manager 2007 is critical for the success of the implementation, the productivity of the end user, and the overall cost of the solution itself.
Over-utilized servers result in performance degradation and loss of end user productivity.

E2K7 SP1 Beta

Entretanto o site You Had Me At EHLO publicou um post (Exchange Server 2007 and Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2) sobre os requisitos do SP1.

Managing Transport in Exchange Server 2007

Então Managing Transport in Exchange Server 2007 é o documento ideal para vocês.

This guide is a compilation of transport-specific Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Help topics designed to help you manage and configure Exchange 2007 transport servers. The information and procedures in this guide focus specifically on the message transport components of a computer that runs Exchange 2007 and has the Hub Transport server role or the Edge Transport server role installed. This guide provides overviews of the transport components and the tasks you must perform to manage and configure them.

This first section provides information and links to the relevant topics that will help you manage and configure Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 transport servers. The procedures in this section focus specifically on the message transport components of a computer that runs Exchange 2007 and has the Hub Transport server role or the Edge Transport server role installed.

You must have the correct level of permissions to manage Exchange 2007 servers.

The Edge Transport server is installed as a stand-alone server in the perimeter network outside the Exchange organization. You must log on by using an account that is a member of the local administrators group to manage an Edge Transport server.

The Hub Transport server provides the message transport functionality for all mail flow that occurs in the Exchange organization. The permissions that are required to manage Hub Transport servers depend on the scope of the effect of the task that is performed. To learn more about the required permissions for Hub Transport server management, see the individual procedures.

Realtime Nexus eBooks

  • The Administrator Shortcut Guide to Blocking Spam with Sender Validation (Alan Sugano) - Written by notable computing expert Alan Sugano, this guide will familiarize you with Sender Validation and how it compares with other anti-spam solutions (blacklists, key word filters, Heuristics and Bayesian filtering, etcetera). Since there are many different Sender Validation solutions to choose from, Alan will also help you discover what to look when choosing the right system for your business.
  • The Administrator Shortcut Guide to Email Protection (Paul Robichaux) - The Administrator Shortcut Guide to Email Protection will give you critical, need-to-know information to help you properly protect your corporate messaging system from a wide variety of external and internal security threats. Although the book focuses on Microsoft Exchange-based enterprises, the concepts, principles, and methodologies presented within are universally applicable to virtually all messaging platforms.
  • The Definitive Guide to Controlling Malware, Spyware, Phishing, and Spam (Dan Sullivan) - The Internet is home to malicious programs that can steal, destroy, and make data inaccessible; spyware that ignores social conventions of privacy to track Internet users' activities online; phishing scams that bring the art of the con artist to new threatening levels; and spam, the inevitable electronic counterpart to direct mail that requires so little investment even miniscule response rates justify its use. This guide explores some of the most pressing threats to businesses and organizations from the Internet along with best practices for addressing them.
  • The Definitive Guide to Exchange Disaster Recovery and Availability (Paul Robichaux) - Understanding Exchange disaster recovery can take a while. The first step, naturally enough, is to gain an understanding of the fundamentals of Exchange protection. Later chapters of this guide will describe the specific technologies you can use to improve the availability and recoverability of your messaging system and its related business services; first, though, we have to start with an explanation of the causes of downtime, the general classes of availability and protection technology, and ways to assess your Exchange environment to determine the most effective methods for you to better protect your Exchange infrastructure.
  • The Messaging and Web Security Essentials Series (Dan Sullivan) - The Messaging and Web Security Essentials Series is an online article series focused on helping security professionals address the ongoing task of keeping an organization secure from the multitude of online and messaging threats.
  • The Shortcut Guide to Exchange Server 2007 Storage Systems (Jim McBee) - The conventional way of planning for Exchange Server storage is to throw a lot of disk storage at the server and hope that is sufficient. Mail storage requirements continue to grow for even average users; these users place more and more capacity requirements not only on disk storage but also on disk I/O capacity. As current capacity requirements are exceeded, the storage system must provide scalability. The Shortcut Guide to Exchange Server 2007 Storage Systems, authored by Microsoft Exchange MVP Jim McBee, covers Exchange Server storage capacity requirement planning, the basics of using iSCSI SANs, and best practices for scalability and SAN operations.
  • The Tips and Tricks Guide to Secure Messaging (Jim McBee) - Threats against email systems have evolved to the point that protecting users, mail servers and bandwidth is no longer as simple as installing antivirus software. By some estimates, spam, phishing schemes, viruses, and other unwanted content now make up 70% of all email traffic into an organization's mail servers. The Tips and Tricks Guide to Secure Messaging by messaging expert Jim McBee introduces IT managers and messaging system administrators to the evolving threat landscape, emerging technologies for data protection, and best practices for protecting users, messaging system resources, and organizational data.

MVP Summit 2007

TechDays 2007: a minha sessão

Ufff!

Some messages, such as encrypted messages, prevent Exchange from modifying the content of the original message. Exchange enables you to control how your organization handles these messages. When you create a new disclaimer, you can decide whether to wrap a message that can't be modified in a message envelope that contains the disclaimer, reject the message if a disclaimer can't be added, or let the message continue without a disclaimer.
The following list shows each fallback action and its description:

  • Wrap If the disclaimer can't be inserted into the original message, Exchange encloses, or "wraps," the original message in a new message envelope. Then the disclaimer is inserted into the new message.
    Important:
If an original message is wrapped in a new message envelope, subsequent transport rules are applied to the new message envelope, not to the original message. Therefore, you must configure transport rules with disclaimer actions that wrap original messages in a new message body after you configure other transport rules.
    Note:
If the original message can't be wrapped in a new message envelope, the original message is not delivered. The sender of the message receives a non-delivery report (NDR) that explains why the message was not delivered.
  • Ignore If the disclaimer can't be inserted into the original message, Exchange lets the original message continue unmodified. No disclaimer is added.
  • Reject If the disclaimer can't be inserted into the original message, Exchange doesn't deliver the message. The sender of the message receives an NDR that explains why the message wasn't delivered.

Exchange Server 2007 Edge Transport and Messaging Protection

In deploying the Exchange 2007 based messaging protection solution, Microsoft IT used all messaging protection features of the Edge Transport server role and Forefront Security for Exchange Server to block, delete, reject, or quarantine unwanted messages. To further increase security, servers were hardened and audited for vulnerabilities to ensure readiness for Internet visibility. The many steps that Microsoft IT took to design a network environment, combined with the messaging protection features of Exchange Server 2007, resulted in greater flexibility, fewer false positives, and reduced TCO.

Nova versão do Jetstress (v.08.01.0075)

A nova versão, v.08.01.0075, corrige alguns problemas, que estão descritos no blog do Hyungmin Lee: Jetstress 08.01.0075 has fixed a list of issues.

Overview
Use Jetstress to verify the performance and stability of a disk subsystem prior to putting an Exchange server into production. Jetstress helps verify disk performance by simulating Exchange disk Input/Output (I/O) load. Specifically, Jetstress simulates the Exchange database and log file loads produced by a specific number of users. You use Performance Monitor, Event Viewer, and ESEUTIL in conjunction with Jetstress to verify that your disk subsystem meets or exceeds the performance criteria you establish. After a successful completion of the Jetstress Disk Performance and Stress Tests in a non-production environment, you will have ensured that your Exchange disk subsystem is adequately sized (in terms of performance criteria you establish) for the user count and user profiles you have established. It is highly recommended that the Jetstress user read through the tool documentation before using the tool.

Note Jetstress is only supported when running with Exchange 2000, Exchange 2003, Exchange 2007 or newer versions of ESE.DLL. Also, due to this support limitation, Jetstress is only supported on Windows 2000 Server, Windows Server 2003, Advanced Server, Datacenter and newer Windows OS platforms (Windows NT 4.0 and older builds are not supported).

Exchange 2007 SP1

Standby Continuous Replication (SCR)
For such a great feature, we obviously needed a new name!
With Exchange 2007, we introduced Clustered Continuous Replication (CCR) for replication of data between 2 servers within a cluster within the same datacenter. With SCR, data replicates to a non-clustered server in a remote datacenter. If the primary datacenter becomes unavailable, the standby replica in the second datacenter is readily available to be activated.

Mobility
We'll have new policies for:

  • Enforcing encryption of main memory contents on device
  • Enforcing which applications are allowed/blocked from running on the device
  • Enforcing networking capabilities: disable wifi, Bluetooth, infrared, external storage
  • Enforcing communication capabilities: disable SMS, MMS, POP/IMAP, disable camera

OWA
SP1 will fill in the feature holes that we just didn't have time to complete by RTM:

  • Personal distribution lists
  • S/MIME
  • Rules
  • Monthly calendar view
  • Deleted items recovery
  • Public folder access

OWA 2007 SP1 spell checking will add support for:

  • Arabic
  • Korean

OWA 2007 SP1 will add support for viewing Office 2007 file formats as HTML.

Exchange Management Console
SP1 will fill in the GUI holes that we just didn't have time to complete by RTM, including:

  • Public folder configuration
  • POP and IMAP configuration
  • SendAs permission configuration
  • Delegation wizard scenarios

Web Services
New web service coverage will include:

  • Public folder access
  • Delegate management
  • Folder permission management

IPv6
On Longhorn Server, we will support Exchange 2007 on native IPv6 networks.

Move Mailbox
This vital tool administrator tool has been beefed up to include import and export to a .pst
